Enviro – Carbon Offsetting

Nepal – Reforestation

Project description

Environment

Nepal is one of the least developed countries in the world. Rural communities in Nepal depend on their natural environment for food, shelter, and income. When the environment is damaged and trees are cut down, those experiencing poverty are the first to feel the negative effects.

Project

Our partners are working to support poverty alleviation and environmental restoration across Nepal with more than 12 million trees already planted. Starting in 2015, our partners has been working in 3 distinct regions across the country, including a partnership with Chitwan National Park, a World Heritage Site in Nepal. By partnering with the National Park system, your money helps protect and create a reforested zone vital to protecting animal habitat.

Plantation sites:

Jhapa

Located along the Southeastern tip of Nepal, bordering India. Characterized by flat grasslands and dense forest. Our partner Eden is working with local people and community leaders to restore previously forested land in the region.

Chitwan National Park

Located in South Central Nepal. The Chitwan Valley is characterized by its tropical and subtropical forests. Established in 1973, Chitwan, which means “Heart of the Jungle,” was the first national park in Nepal.
